This week we got to shoot for a very talented cosmetologist (who happens to cut my 3 boys' shaggy skater hair) to get these shots for a scholarship/contest she's applying to win. These hair and makeup designs are her creepy commentary on the "Nip and Tuck" TV series.

Here we are at the Boise Greenbelt freezing! My fingers quit working about halfway through the shoot. I also slipped on some mud and almost simultaneously broke the martini glasses and my favorite lens--caught the fall with my knee caps. Dillon and Brooke are an "outdoorsy" couple--they have a wonderful connection and obviously have alot of fun together!

Michael and Chelsey did such a great job stylizing their wedding from the clothing to the venue and even down to the makeup! Even the guests dressed according to the 1940s theme. She's gorgeous and has a great sense of style and she took time to prepare, down to the details like jewelry and hairpieces, so she's looking very put together in her senior portraits. I would encourage all seniors to take the time to PAMPER yourselves, to get the details of your outfits right, and make it an event!

I have to say I've never seen a more joyous bride. Chanel always makes everyone who comes into her presence feel like they are they most important person in the world. Even her emails are almost overwhelming with compliments and excitement. You can see what an incredible personality she has in her pictures. Their wedding was on a hot day out at Wood River Cellars, but everyone had so much fun they didn't notice the heat!

Tyler and Alexa looked like fantastic! This huge wedding was perfectly orchestrated (for what I heard was 500 guests) at the Grove by Sarah Hart of Storybook Weddings, who remained casual and cool the whole time! As usual, we had a great time working with Jim and Nicki Seaney of Foreverlasting Productions on video and Vince from VCI Audio. John and Charley got married in Mountain Home, ID at a Victorian-style house. Although that location had some beautiful backdrops, we felt that it would be more their style to photograph the bridal party at a more dramatic location so my assistant Naomi and I scouted out this very cool old drive-in place. I broke my location lighting, though...it went over in the wind.

Trying to get back into updating this blog regularly...Today was a wash. We had to cancel sessions because of the rain--January in Boise is frustrating; Here are a couple of pages from an album I'm working on. This "fiesta" themed wedding at Redfish Lake was so colorful!

New Year's Resolution: VALENTINE'S DAY 2010 is going to be special because I'm going to plan ahead!

I am notorious for failing to plan ahead to make holidays special. My family knows their gifts on Christmas day were probably purchased the night before at some frantic, shopper infested, picked over store--or maybe the mini mart. Kids always love corndogs, right? My 2010 resolution: I want to add a few more small traditions each year (NOT Christmas Eve shopping) so that eventually we've got handfuls of simple but memorable events surrounding each of the holidays.
Some ideas for Valentine's Day: Deliver decorated cookies to neighbors or take to the office--spread some love! Help your kids create an all-red or pink ensemble to wear from their closets and drawers or maybe this is the day to wear a that short red sparkly dress to work dressed down with leggings and a jean jacket! Use lipstick to write messages on the bathroom mirror to your loved ones on Valentine's Day. Lucy was at the studio all day with me on Friday so I used her to test the light for one of my shoots. She photographs well as all weimaraners do! I'm trying to get her used to hanging out at the studio because she makes a great companion and if she stays home for long periods of time she gets naughty and chews holes in things.

This was a totally fun bridal party so we knew we could take them just about anywhere! They didn't mind taking time out of their day to create some playful shots. Even though it was mid-day, the sun in October is mellow enough to use as a main light or to include in the background so it made shooting pretty easy.
